Two-card Energy Spread adapted from Power Tarot by MacGregor & Vega.

1) The energy you'll be dealing with today
2) How you can transmute this energy so that it works for you.

I used the Ancestral Path Tarot, and got 1) Eight of Cups and 2)
Justice. This seems to address the sleep issues in this house. In the
evenings, my husband unwinds in front of the tv until it's time for bed.
He calls this "tv-sleeping." I do "computer-sleeping." Problem is, I
have so much going on in my head, I have trouble getting to sleep (sort
of RW 9 of Sword-ish, but not as dramatic). This sort of escapism is
one of the aspects of the Eight of Cups. It is, in fact, what I'm doing
right now. Not sleeping, but escaping the house and family and stuff.
(Also, in the AP, there is a 8C/Hermit connection.)

I frequently stay up too late on the computer. Last night, my daughter
couldn't sleep (full moon). Since she was awake so late, I figured I
may get a little extra time in bed in the morning. Not so! She woke up
one-and-a-half hours early! Boy, have I been thrilled to deal with her
energy this morning, after my four-and-a-half-hour night. Now she is
having her midday nap. I should be napping too, but I'm trying to stay
awake so I can sleep tonight (2-Justice). This afternoon, we will go
for a walk until we have no more energy. In a sentence, the energy
we'll be dealing with today (i.e. 8C-walking it out) will work for me in
bringing balance to our sleep schedules and probably more Justice to our
daily lives as well (less grouchy).

For the comparative deck, I take the Rider Waite. The Eight of Cups is
far less dramatic. It seems in a way more selfish, like the guy is
thinking more of himself and what he wants. The AP Justice is VIII, and
blindfolded, which most Tarot Justices aren't, but most government
justice symbols are. The RW's zombie eyes make me think of insomnia (or
me this afternoon, with no nap).

Even though I try to blame it on my daughter, it's the energy I
spend pursuing personal interests (i.e. staying up late on computer)
which keeps me from getting enough sleep. While the man on the AP Eight
of Cups (Merlin) seems to be going off on a spiritual pursuit, perhaps
as *part* of his responsibilites, the RW Eight of Cups gives me more of
an impression of a personal pursuit in *spite of* responsibilities.
Justice shows that I have to take responsibility for *myself* in two
ways: balancing pursuit of personal interests with family
responsibilities, and balancing pursuit of personal interests with
getting enough sleep. I think.
