Appearance of Cups in a rainbow; it is contemplated in wonder and ecstasy by a man and woman below, evidently husband and wife. His right arm is about her; his left is raised upward; she raises her right arm. The two children dancing near them have not observed the prodigy but are happy after their own manner. There is a home-scene beyond.--A.E. Waite

This is a *joie de vivre* card--in celebration of the joys of life itself . . . As the suit of Ghosts reveals emotions and love, this card points to a happy home, a dream come true, and a passionate, rich life.--Karin Lee

Joy goes beyond happiness, contentment, enjoyment. I think it is the feeling that comes when we truly know at the deepest level that we are one with All that is and that It is good. . . . It is our natural state if only we trust that it is so. Peace is another aspect of the 10 of Cups. It is the serenity that comes when all elements are in harmony. There is an inner peace and an outer peace, and these are reflections of each other. When you are in harmony with yourself, you will experience harmony in your environment. . . .
In readings, this card often signals a time of abundant blessings. It tells you that now you can reach for the fulfillment you deserve and it will come to you. Look for ways to realize joy and create peace, and you will be successful. Often you will find the key to this happiness in your family. Your "family" is the group of people that you are attached to in an emotional way - the ones you "belong" with, for better or worse! The 10 of Cups reminds you that your "family" is often the arena in which you can find the joy and peace you are seeking.--Joan Bunning

As the highest number, the Tens signify being filled with the quality of the suit. In Wands we saw an excess of burdens; in Cups we find joy and the wonder of life spread across the sky. The holy Grail, symbol of God's grace and love, rests at the base of this suit, showing us that love, imagination, and joy all come to us as gifts.--Rachel Pollack

Unlike the nine of cups, the ten of cups is without anticipation of change or development. The woman is satiated; there is nothing more for her to do.
Ten is a number of fulfillment or resolution. To those with a restless temperament, this card might mean boredom and stagnation, a kind of bovine placidness and complacency. Usually, though, the ten of cups indicates a time of mellowness, when problems are vanquished or at least in abeyance. One allows oneself to let go of ambition and to sit back and enjoy family, friends, artistic activity, hobbies, and physical pleasure.--Jean Huets

We are called on to remember our unique effect on others, because in this time of sudden changes and complexity we easily forget that we can have any impact at all. This card points to the importance of everyone's feelings and unique perspective and reminds us of our responsibility to reach for balance in our decisions that will fulfill the needs of all people. We need to remember that against the backdrop of our culture, our collective actions determine the future. In your relations with your family especially, your responsibility to create positive emotional patterns will help your children or even your parents create a new and more positive world. The waters of the river delta will widen once again and flow on and on, carrying your reality to distant future generations.--Alexandra Genetti
